Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential for a tattoo that heals beautifully and lasts a lifetime. Follow these guidelines carefully.
We will help you plan your tattoo around sun exposure and swimming, especially during summer.
First 48 Hours
Keep the bandage on for 2-4 hours after your session (or as advised by your artist).
Wash gently with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare ointment.
Do not re-bandage unless specifically instructed.
Avoid touching the tattoo with unwashed hands.
Sleep on clean sheets. Avoid sleeping directly on the tattoo if possible.
Cleaning Routine
Wash 2-3 times daily with lukewarm water and unscented antibacterial soap.
Gently pat dry. Never rub or use rough towels.
Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer or aftercare balm after each wash.
Continue this routine for 2-3 weeks until peeling completes.
Once healed, apply sunscreen (SPF 30+) before sun exposure.
What to Avoid
No swimming (pools, sea, hot tubs) for at least 2 weeks.
No direct sunlight or tanning beds on the fresh tattoo.
Do not pick, scratch, or peel flaking skin. Let it shed naturally.
Avoid tight clothing that rubs against the tattoo.
No gym or heavy sweating for the first 48-72 hours.
Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 24 hours post-session.
Healing Timeline
Days 1-3: Slight swelling, redness, and warmth. This is normal.
Days 4-7: The tattoo may start to feel tight and itchy. Flaking begins.
Weeks 2-3: Peeling continues. Colors may look dull. This is temporary.
Week 4+: Surface healing is mostly complete. Deep skin layers continue healing for 2-3 months.
Full settle: Your tattoo reaches its final appearance after approximately 6-8 weeks.
Signs to Watch
Excessive redness, swelling, or warmth after the first 48 hours.
Pus or unusual discharge (clear lymph fluid is normal initially).
Persistent pain that worsens rather than improves.
Red streaks extending from the tattoo area.
If you notice any of these, contact us immediately or visit a medical professional.
